This is a poster i painted for a class project. It is about the Japanese Goddess, Benten. The words are actually english and i used fonts i designed myself to give it the japanese look. it is just a simple description of Benten but now i wished i wrote a poem for benten instead. Anyway, it is a huge painting and it took me many many scans.
And before anyone points out that her face is really white, I have to say that it is just my impression of the phase when Benten is morphing herself into a dragon to mate with the white snakes. if you read from top to bottom, it reads, "Benten the Japanese Goddess of love, music and water is the patroness of geishas, dancers and musicians. For her people's safety, she turned herself into a dragon and mated with the white snakes." see if you can read it. Daily DeviationGiven 2004-05-17Benten Sama by *doughnut-hole is a wonderful piece of traditional art. Great technique and theme come together for a very pleasing viewing experience, especially for fans of Japanese culture. (Featured by `dinyctis) |
